This Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day to appreciate and remember all mom does for you. And, no, we don’t just mean times she did your laundry when you came home from college, or when she spotted you $20.
Just like your mom has always been there for you, we have a long list of moms who helped make our company what it is today. Who doesn’t like a good family timeline? Ok, well then here we go.
Our founder J.J. Thomas Haverty married Clara Malone and the couple had son Clarence Haverty in 1881. From here stemmed a long line of Haverty children, grandchildren down to several dedicated family employees who work with us today! Our CEO, Clarence Haverty Smith, is J.J.’s great grandson.
The point of the matter is that our company would not be what it is without Clara and the many other mothers of Havertys’ legacies. Clara’s profile was even used by the sculptors who carved the symbolic feminine figures on the tympanum of the Georgia State Capitol building. Talk about making an impression on history, literally.
How do you plan to celebrate mom this year?
