The 2012 Pre-Fall Fashion Week invaded New York City last week. And it seems as though every stitch went off without a hitch. As the designers raced to show their newest designs, one clear winner emerged…patterned fabric! Yes, it’s all about the fabric. The designers showed everything from long to short, dark to light, skinny to wide, but none of them left out the patterned, textured fabrics. They certainly took an “anything goes” approach to style. The gentlemen’s plaid trousers were paired with crocheted school girl sweaters, and sequined gowns were shown under leather jackets. Basically, wear anything with anything as long as you have fun doing it. That’s great news for those of us who like to experiment with textures and patterns. And it’s even better news for those of us who like to dress up our personal spaces in the same style.
Maybe you don’t want to take as many risks when you’re designing your space, but the mixing of patterns and textures is definitely still an option. Below is the Sabrina Collection. It’s a great example of the use of multiple patterns, textures and solids in one space. The Morning Light canvas adds texture to the walls while the smaller patterns on the chair and the bolder, modern motif on the ottoman team up to make a fabulous statement. And don’t forget the Cirrus rug. It’s a felted wool shag rug that adds interest even beneath your feet. There are opportunities to make the room your own from top to bottom.
Design a space that reflects your personal style. Havertys has tons of ways to help you make your space unique whether it’s through mixing our collections or using our custom choice options. Why should your home design get any less attention than your wardrobe design? Think of your home as an extension of your style. Go ahead, dress it up.
