Make your home springtime fresh
20 Tuesday Mar 2012
For many parts of the country, it already feels like summer. But believe it or not, today is the first day of spring. In addition to a good spring cleaning of your home, you may be feeling the itch to rearrange, redecorate or freshen up your rooms for the season. Everyone knows nothing says spring like a colorful bouquet of tulips on your kitchen table, but here are some other ideas for making your home springtime-stylish.
Now that warm sunlight is streaming in through the windows, it’s time to remove those dark and heavy drapes. Replace them with light and airy patterned or cotton curtains. Tie them back so the sunshine can illuminate the room even more.
If you decorated for winter, chances are you have lots of reds, browns and golds filling your space. Replace these wintery colors with those fit for spring. Bring in whites, bright greens, yellows, pinks and oranges to give your home a lighter feel.
Get instant spring appeal with anything butterfly, flower or bird-themed. In addition, take advantage of the warm weather to let sun stream in through the windows and doors to reflect more light. Hang glass, mirrors or high-gloss pieces of art in your room to capture the brightness of the sun.
Head over to your local farmer’s market and purchase some fresh flowers to add a pop of color to any room. Fruit can also be another useful decoration. Gather citrus fruit in a glass bowl to add more springtime-freshness in your kitchen.
